State exam

State Exam

Students that have completed all six years and completed their diploma work are allowed to sit for the state exam.

There are two parts to the state exam:

  1. A written part with 180 multiple choice questions
  2. An oral part for those students that passed the written part

The written part
The 180 questions are taken from a national databank of questions, which is made up of questions from these subjects:

  • Public Health
  • Psychiatry
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Neurology
  • Internal Medicine
  • Surgery

There is a total of 5000 questions in the question bank and they are published prior to the exam, so students can get an idea of what they will be asked.

All the questions can be downloaded here: Questions part 1 and Questions part 2 (these are the official files given to us by the University).

Here is a collection of important questions that you should study (memorize them!!!): STAR-SMILEY-2007
It is a pdf file that contains STAR questions (questions students have remembered), SMILEY questions (“very important questions” list from the University!) and questions from the 2007 exams.

MY WRITTEN STATE EXAM

After the state exam

After we passed both the written and the oral state exam, we had to pay for any copies of our diplomas (we get one standard for free, but any nice editions or standard copies had to be paid for; price 7000-8500 forint)

More coming…

Receiving the diploma

You might think that you will receive your diploma at the graduation ceremony. This is not the case. All you receive at the ceremony is a hand shake from the Rector.
The diploma has to be picked up about two weeks after the graduation ceremony – in Budapest. That means you have to travel back to Budapest and pick it up from the University.
But it doesn’t end there…
Once you pick up the diploma you have to validate it by going to the Department of Culture and Education AND the Department of Foreign Affairs.
