The oral part of the entrance exam

I have spoken with a few professors at Semmelweis University that conduct entrance exams and there are a few things they have told me that they focus on.

  1. How much of a drive does the student have and how has he/she prepared for himself/herself for studies in Hungary?
They often ask how you heard about the program, and what you know about Hungary/Budapest/Semmelweis University.
Another important point: What have you done to prepare yourself to medical studies? If you have taken a year of Chemistry and Biology for preparation, spent some time working in a hospital or veterinary clinic, that all counts in you favor.
  2. Your medical knowledge
Your knowledge in medicine is not as important as your knowledge of basic concepts in science. And how you explain them.
  3. How well your spoken English is and how well you present something / answer questions
This is probably what students fear the most. Prepare yourself by explaining simple concepts to your friends and family before coming to the entrance exam.
    Popular topics include:
    - The circulatory system
    - Energy production (glycolysis, fermentation, anaerobic and aerobic ATP-production)
    - Respiratory system
    - The structure of the immune system
    - The cell membrane
