Sports
Most of the students that come to study in Budapest are looking for sports activities.
They either want to make sure they stay in shape or they want to continue doing what they loved before studying medicine (dancing, football etc.)
There are plenty of sports activities students can do in Budapest.
Here are some – more coming!
FOOTBALL
Budapest hosts several Hungarian elite teams in football, including the famous (former European top club) Ferencváros Football Club.
The national stadium is also in Budapest, so World Cup Qualifying games will be played in Budapest.
For students: The Scandinavians have their own team (Budapest Vikings). Hungarians love football, so there are plenty of opportunities to play.
The BUDAPEST VIKINGS has a brand new website! Check it out:

Ferenc Puskas is Hungary’s most famous footballer. The national stadium is named after him (Ferenc Puskas Stadium, Budapest).

AMERICAN FOOTBALL
Budapest has its own American Football team – Budapest Wolves.
Two of my friends were on the team. Check out the Wolves’ website: www.wolves.hu
WATER SPORTS
This is huge in Hungary!
They have won tons of medals in the Olympics, World and European championships in water polo.
Some of you might have heard of the infamous water polo game between Hungary and the Soviet Union in Melbourne olympics ( “Blood in the water” ) in 1956.
RUNNING
The Margit Island has a padded track surrounding the park (appr. 5 km distance)
The Budapest marathon is a yearly event and friends of mine have done it.
DANCING
Several students in Budapest have joined dance institutes during their time in this amazing city.
Ballett, salsa and most other styles available.
Semmelweis University also has its own dance team.
CLIMBING
This has become very popular among students. There are indoor and outdoor climbing opportunities.
