Surgery notes from Kotzampasakis Dimitrios

I have received a great contribution to My Notes: complete set of 6th year surgery notes from Kotzampasakis Dimitrios.
Below is an introduction from him about the notes and you will find the rest in My Notes.

Surgery Notes

By Kotzampasakis Dimitrios

Concerning the exam:

The surgeons are usually really OK. Straight, no tricky questions and they are kind enough. They want to hear from you a simplified version of your topic. Of course if they ask you where is the liver and you answer: to the left they won’t really like it. I hope you know what I mean. But generally is fine. Now concerning Traumatology: In my opinion they have a line from the department of pressing us a little bit. Depends also on who is examining you. Be well prepared for their questions because if they are in the mood they can go deeeeeep…. I got spine fractures and thank god, I knew it well. I can say that he asked almost everything. So don’t play with trauma.

My opinion: study first Traumatology when your memory is still fresh and then move to surgery where there is high possibility that you can answer from your previous knowledge.

Concerning the topics:

You will notice that the A group is the easy one. The majority of the questions repeats for 10 topics. I.e definition of antisepsis and for the following 5 topics is the same with different values : treatment, ways etc so it’s the easy one. Take care at the last topics, where transplantations are.

Group B Is The surgery part. Depends on the nature of question. Not very big and not very small topics. But I think none of them was tricky. Are divided in abdominal organs, gastroenterology, vascular surgery and cardiac , Lungs breasts, Peritonitis and Hernias.

Make a good study schedule and move on.

Group C: This can be a hard one. Several categories of different fractures mixed with abdominal traumas burns etc. GIVE TIME FOR THESE TOPICS.    And learn them well! They ask a lot. Its not a SOTE myth! BUT BUT BUT If you are well prepared you won’t have any problem.

Concerning my topics:

  • It is a try together with Oystein to provide some topics for the next generations of  students.
  • DO NOT be afraid of the number of pages. Is not that much as it seems to be. The text is easy and purified.
  • They were done under the pressure of my exam so you may find some grammatical mistakes that I didn’t have the time even to correct them. Don’t stick on this. the point is the knowledge.
  • IMPORTANT: you may also find MINOR medical mistakes BUT in front of this huuuge subject they count for less than 2? 3?%. So DO NOT hesitate to contact us for making corrections if you find something that it is really important. I used these topics and I got 5 in all the 3 parts. So don’t worry I just mention it. In general they have really good level.
  • In the beginning, maybe the topics are too much . later from 10 and more the knowledge is more pure and in lesser extent. Exactly what you need.
  • Something last. Some topic at the end 51-56 I didn’t had much time to write them down bcs I had also my exam. The A part are some really easy stuff . The B parts are all about hernias and C part some general stuff also. I’m sorry . Do something on your own!

Special thanks to Oystein who provides this site and his will to help the next students

    Hey Doctor,
I’m a UG medical student, but not from Budapest. :( Can I have those medical notes so that I too access the knowledge you kept here for sharing? I tried to access but it is password protected. I searched the site but didn’t find a way to contact you rather than to make a comment here. So, I plead you to consider my case and let me access the notes. You can contact me via e-mail.

    Thanx and cheers,
    Mac
